The Old School was built in 1876 at the cost of $3500 the building has seen many changes. The original design of this two room brick school house was built on a rock foundation which housed two class rooms. 

In the year of 1896 two rooms were added to the West side along with three years of high school. 

In 1906 the Belfry and Clock were installed with donations covering the purchase cost.  This old clock can still be heard through out town reminding us of the current time and the pace of small town living. 

By the year 1910 the old school housed 8 years of school. 

In 1920 the school was accredited as a four year high school. 

The year of 1923 was a big year; the school was installed with indoor plumbing with restrooms.  First four year graduating class of nine received their diplomas.

In the year 1942 a new school was built on Highway K leaving this building abandoned after the spring term when the students moved to the new site.  Soon after American Legion Post 506 purchased the building.

During the 1950’s the building was used as classrooms after the Morrison Public School building was lost to fire. 

Other notable uses of the building over the years include:

During WWII meals were served.

Provided temporary housing for numerous volunteers during the flood of 1993.

Placed on the National Historic Register in 2003.

Building bought by Joe and Charlotte Schaperclaus in 2005 and Old School On The Hill Bed and Breakfast LLC was formed by Charlotte, Dawn and Becky Schaperclaus.
